Dr. Maria Eufemia Yap is a thought leader in health policy, health education, and public health in the Philippines. She served as the Founding Associate Dean at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) and as a Senior Technical Advisor at ThinkWell, focusing on strengthening health systems to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

With over six years at ThinkWell, Dr. Yap led strategic purchasing initiatives and provided technical assistance to various Department of Health (DOH) bureaus in organizational development, health systems strengthening, and change management. Previously, she was Director of the Health Unit at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (1998-2015).

Dr. Yap holds a Master of Science in Community Health and Health Management from the University of Heidelberg and a Doctor of Medicine from FEU Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. She is a founding member of the Unilab Center for Health Policy, launched in 2024, and actively promotes health equity by advocating for inclusive healthcare policies. Her career reflects a deep commitment to improving healthcare delivery, empowering marginalized populations, and advancing public health in the Philippines.
